A Lake Windermere Wedding
In the Summer I got to take a trip down memory lane at Rebecca and Andrew’s Wedding in the Lake District.
I grew up in the tranquil village of Grayrigg surrounded by the scenic countryside, sheep and farms. It was a pleasant blast from the past when Andrew who I went to primary school with contacted me to do his Wedding video.
The Wedding took place at Grayrigg Church in the centre of the village. It was really nice to come back to my roots and see a lot of old familiar faces and what they where doing now 15 years on.
On the day I met with the Vicar Brian who married my friend in the same church 13 years previous , My old primary school teacher who was playing the organ in church and my old history teacher Liz who’s lessons I always remember for being interesting and creative!
I am quite fortunate that my parents still live in my original family home so I got to stay there the night before and do some bonus filming. My Mum even got a part in the day tying up the church gates which is a bit of a tradition in Grayrigg where you have to throw money to the children in order to get the gates open! a lovely quirky element, however there was a few pair’s of scissors required as the kids had gone to town with the string and the rain was making a come back.
Anyway despite the intermittent rain showers Rebecca and Andrew had a beautiful day!
Following the service at the Church Rebecca & Andrew enjoyed a rather cool ride in a vintage VW Camper van that took them to their reception at the Low Wood Bay Hotel.
The Low Wood Bay has one of the most enviable lake-shore settings for a wedding celebration in the Lake District, from the civil ceremony to the grandest reception venue. They offer a range of options from drinks in their secluded gardens or impressive gallery lounge, to a spectacular wedding breakfast in the Lakes Suite for up to 280 guests. The enviable location on the edge of Lake Windermere with one of the finest views across the lake to the distant Lake District fells makes for a stunning wedding venue, with a beautiful backdrop for the perfectWedding film.
After the Wedding Breakfast Andrew & Rebecca invited their guests on to a boat on Lake Windermere for a sunset cruise accompanied by their favourite tune’s being played by the captain. I thought this was an utterly gorgeous idea and it was certainly the first time I’d done any filming on a boat at a Wedding so a big thumbs up from me!
